Dr Dorman undertook his Ophthalmology training in Queensland with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. After completing his comprehensive ophthalmology training, he undertook further subspecialty training in medical and surgical management of retinal disorders, completing a Vitreoretinal Fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. He was awarded the Topham Scholarship and selected for a prestigious international fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery through the University of Toronto in Canada, during which he trained with leading North American retinal specialists. Dr Dorman has also completed an observership at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Dr Dorman’s academic achievements include a Bachelor of Applied Science in Optometry with First-Class Honours, followed by a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Griffith University. He subsequently completed a Master of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) and research treatise on retinal disease at the University of Sydney.

Dr Dorman holds an appointment at the tertiary referral vitreoretinal unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he manages patients with the most complex pathologies, in addition to training the next generation of eye doctors and vitreoretinal surgeons.

Throughout his career, Dr Dorman has endeavoured to stay at the forefront of his field, having published research in multiple international ophthalmology journals. He has presented at national and international conferences and previously received an award from Australian Vision Research. He is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists (ANZSRS) and the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS).

Dr Dorman has a strong focus on surgical excellence and works closely with referring optometrists and doctors in order to achieve optimal patient outcomes and continuity of patient care.

Outside the ophthalmology sphere, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children. He is a passionate supporter of the Australian Cricket and Rugby Union teams and plays guitar, which he has studied for over 20 years.
